We had to get something that has blackout capabilities, as there's a street light outside the window that shines right onto John's face while he's trying to sleep. So, we got these blackout roman shades. They match the duvet fairly well (at least I think they do.) I feel like something's missing, though. I was considering draping a scarf-type sheer thingy over them, such as this (probably not this color, though):

Would that look ok? Does it matter if they're two different materials? Thoughts? Help!
Katie, I like your idea of adding a scarf or a swag. We have roman shades as well and I have always thought they could use something more. I feel that long scarfs look better with bigger windows or rooms with higher ceilings, otherwise they may feel heavy. Perhaps try hanging some fabric to see what would look best in that room. I think the dark brown looks really nice! You could also do cream. I guess it depends on whether you are going more shabby sheek or modern. I've stopped worrying so much about coordinating colors, I think the offbeat touches add personal style and charm. Good luck - it looks fantastic!
