Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Max

Happy Birthday to you! My little dude is 7 today!!! He's a member of our family, my mom calls him her "granddog," and he loves to watch TV, especially Red Sox games.

As a gift, I made him "Simple Simon's Birthday Bones" courtesy of the Three Dog Bakery Cookbook.

He's already had a handful tonight and he's begging for more. They're very easy, too:

2 cups whole-wheat flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 cup natural peanut butter

1 cup skim milk

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  • In a bowl, combine flour & baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter & milk.

  • Add wet mixture to dry, and mix well.

  • Turn out dough on a lightly floured surface & knead. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes

  • Place on a greased baking sheet & bake for 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool on a rack & then store in an airtight container.

Bark appetit. ;)
